Greeting Friends and Family!
Thank you very much for taking the time to check out our Memorial Day Marathon fundraising page! As many of you know, the Russo/Holland Team successfully completed last year's Memorial Day Marathon in the beautiful Berkshires. Part of what attracted us to this particular race was our desire to do more than just complete 26.2 miles. This marathon afforded us the opportunity to raise money for a cause we both feel strongly connected to - the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF).
Sam's experience serving with the United States Army in Afghanistan over the past few years has highlighted the bravery and selflessness military personnel exude through their service to our country. Unfortunately, for many, their service comes at a cost. Sam's deployments have opened our eyes to the day-to-day struggles, pain, and grief felt by our servicemen/women, and those close to them in the wake of battle-related injuries, post-traumatic stress, and loss of life. Recognizing the need many of our veterans have for post-deployment care, the Russo/Holland team is dedicated to supporting an organization that does just that - the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
Last year, we were both humbled and inspired by the overwhelming generosity many of our friends and families showed towards our marathon fundraising effort for IFHF. After setting an initial goal to raise $1,000, we were absolutely blown away when our final fundraising figure neared $8,000 over just a few short weeks. Motivated by everyone's generosity, we are pushing ahead and hope to raise $10,000 before we partake in the Memorial Day Marathon races on May 26th and May 27th.
The Memorial Day Marathon Committee is contributing a portion of the race proceeds to IFHF. In addition, this website will allow participants like ourselves to directly raise money for the fund. Your donation will assist families who have lost a loved one, or Soldiers suffering severe physical or mental wounds from our current combat operations. We encourage you to visit the IFHF website at http://www.fallenheroesfund.org/ in order to better understand exactly how your contribution will assist this great organization.
Please consider contributing to our effort by:
making a monetary donation through this website,
joining us for a happy hour fundraising event (info to follow),
or even signing up for the race yourself!
