BENEFITING: PROJECT PURPLE
ORGANIZER: PROJECT PURPLE
EVENT: Marine Corps Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2013
A few years ago I was training for my first 5k and started running with a group of people I met at the gym. To this day we get together at least 3 days a week to run and I have to say I never thought I would enjoy running as much as I do today. I am very excited to be running The Marine Corps Marathon (my first marathon) on October 27th with this running group that I now call my friends. While accomplishing this personal goal of mine I will be running with Team Project Purple to help raise money for pancreatic cancer research. Among this group of runners is Dino, Dino lost his dad to pancreatic cancer in September of 2011. He created Project Purple with the goal to raise awareness and funds towards a cure for this deadly disease. Project Purple has helped many people in different ways, listed below are just a few examples of the great work this charity has done.
1. Scholarship Program – we provide scholarships to children and grandchildren that have lost a loved one to Pancreatic Cancer or have a loved one fighting.
2. Patient Financial Aid Program – we provide families fighting PC with financial aid to help pay the every day bills.
3. Research for a cure, early detection test or improving the quality of life – we provide funding for research projects that show promise in finding a cure, early detection test or improving the quality of life for people with Pancreatic Cancer.
Please help me reach my goal and donate today, many of you have supported me in the past and I thank you for that. So if you can, please continue to support us. Remember, no amount is too small.
Pancreatic Cancer is the 4th largest killer of all cancers and the least funded of the top 10 cancer killers today. We need to do more - we have lost one too many friends, family and loved ones to this evil cancer.
Thank you all for the support!
