BENEFITING: American Cancer Society
EVENT DATE: Aug 16, 2014
This year is our 33rd Annual American Cancer Society Regatta.
Jeff and I have been totally involved in this Regatta for over 28 years!
For six months of every year we are working hard to make sure each year is more successful than the last. Over the years, we have raced in major gale-force winds, in heavy seas (on the L.I. Sound??), torrential downpours and baked ourselves on windless days all for the sake of raising money for the American Cancer Society.
AND . . . what have they done with all the money? They produce Nobel Prize Winners. They've reduced the amount of new cancer cases every year by publicizing the ways everyone can protect themselves with healthier foods, exercise, sunscreen skin care etc. etc. They fund scientists all over the country who are working on different cancer drugs and treatments. They maintain a FREE extended living hotel in Manhattan for cancer patients and their families receiving treatments. They even support and provide patients with a ride service for anyone in need of getting to an appointment or treatment who need transportation to get there. AND . . . the list goes on and on.
Please consider a donation in support of our efforts to raise additional funds. We gather for this one day event, every year, with hundreds of other sailors who have also invested their time and money in support of the wonderful work proformed by the American Cancer Society with the hopes of seeing an end to these dreaded diseases. With your HELP - it can HAPPEN!
