Hello everyone! Thank you for visiting my crowdrise page. As you know I will be running the 2012 NYC Full Marathon on November 4 for The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. It is a great foundation that develops Environmental and Social Sustainability within Kenya and East Africa. The actor Ed Norton is President of the Board for this organization. Please find more details below.
I will be running with a team of marathoners sponsoring this charity. Just to give everyone my personal background in marathon running. This will be my 4th full marathon. I have completed the following:
2011 Hartford Marathon, 2011 Rehoboth Beach, DE Marathon, 2012 B&A Trial Marathon in Annapolis, MD.
My best time is 3hours, 41 minutes and 34 seconds from Rehoboth Beach and I am hoping to beat this time in the NYC marathon. To be honest though, I am not at the same level yet like I was in 2011, but I am excited to be running this marathon in my hometown of NYC for this organization.
The NYC marathon is the most celebrated marathon event in the world and for marathoners such as myself, this race is our "White Whale". (Boston and London may not agree with this, but at the end of the day, they ain't NYC) With roughly 50,000 marathoners running every year from all over the world, it is very difficult to get a spot in this race. I was fortunate enough to get an open spot with this team that is being sponsored by this great organization.
Thank you again for visiting this site, and THANK YOU for your donations!! Wish me and the rest of the team luck as we prepare to kick some asphault come November!! And please pass along this link to your own friends and family!! The more donations the better!!

This year, for the 2012 New York City Marathon, MWCT is thrilled to field another amazing and official team in the NYC Marathon! Any support you can give our 'Maasai Marathoners' by sponsoring their valiant 26 mile run on behalf of the work of MWCT is hugely appreciated. Meet our runners below and back your favorite one or you can contribute to the whole team just by clicking the "Donate" button on the right.
The money we raise is used to protect the legendary ecosystems and astounding biodiversity of East Africa through conservation that directly benefits local Maasai communities.
The world increasingly relies on many traditional communities like the Maasai to protect the ecological treasures that exist within the land that they own. But the incredible wilderness and wildlife of Africa's grasslands and the famous culture of the Maasai people both face daunting threats to their long-term survival. The fate of both rests with the Maasai themselves as they work to figure out how to benefit from their incredible natural resources while preserving them.
That's what MWCT is all about...a pioneering partnership between professional conservationists and dynamic young Maasai leaders to show that the Maasai community can thrive, not just survive, by managing their ecosystem wisely.

All donations are greatly appreciated.
