EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
To my friends, family, colleagues, and well wishers,
2013 will find me at the starting line of the Boston Marathon, running in support of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired for the fourth consecutive year. This year, MAB earned a spot in the prestigious John Hancock non-profit program, which means more exposure for this local charity with a statewide network of vision rehabilitation services and volunteers for the blind and visually impaired.
Over the past three years, you have helped me raise $17,184 for this worthy cause - more than I thought possible, true evidence of your generosity and belief in me. Once again, I ask for your help. This year, my goal is to raise $7,816 to make our four-year total $25,000. A stretch goal? For sure. I am used to those.
In 2010, there were unanticipated leg cramps that made me question my ability to finish the race at all. In 2011, I was cautious and methodical, the memory of 2010 still fresh and scary. In 2012, the hottest marathon on recent record, my goal was to simply finish if I could. Over the next 15 weeks, follow me as I try to figure out 2013's plan.
For newcomers, I've attached last year's race report - 93 degrees, no wind, and thousands of dropouts.
Please donate, if you are able, and help me reach my goal.
Thank you, and see you on the roads.
