BENEFITING: Daraja Education Fund
EVENT DATE: May 17, 2015
"As I study, I dream of being a journalist."
The Kenyan government only provides free access to education through the primary grades (K-8). Beyond primary school, students or their families must pay all fees associated with their schooling. Countless bright, eager students are kept from furthering their education simply they cannot pay these fees.
Orphaned with her 5 siblings, Jackie always knew education was the way out of poverty and the only opportunity she had to help her younger siblings. Jackie is a member of the Media Club, where she loves taking photographs. On the basketball court, Jackie is a force to be reckoned with. Her favorite thing about Daraja is that it provides an opportunity for not only Daraja girls to succeed, but their families, communities, and Kenya.
Please consider supporting Jackie as she runs to raise money for her own education on May 17th in Kenya, while many Daraja supporters are running in the annual San Francisco Bay to Breakers race in solidarity.
Separated by an ocean. United by a cause.
