BENEFITING: RALLY FOUNDATION.ORG
I have been a runner since I could remember. I ran 3 and 5K's from elementary school on and then became a track runner in high school. Running has always been my way of escaping and destressing. I can run as fast or slow as I would like, listen to any kind of music and run anywhere I please. It is the one place I don't have to impress anyone and I am my only motivator. It is the one place I have to push myself to go farther or faster. I am held accountable if I am not my own coach. I began my marathon training to "lose the baby weight" when my son was born. However I found that I loved it. I loved having a goal to work towards and then that goal being achieved after a few months. The feeling of accomplishment while making healthy decisions can't be beat! And I feel as though I am setting a good example for my child as he grows older and begins to make his own decisions regarding athletic activity and overall health. I have also always wanted to join a Rally team. To be able to give back to a child for the possibility of finding a cure is life changing for me. As a mother, this a cause near and dear to my heart. If I can help just one child along my journey, then it was all worth it.
