ORGANIZER: COURAGE CAMPAIGN INSTITUTE 501C3
EVENT: ASICS LA Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Mar 17, 2013
Dear friends and family,
I'm running half of the 2013 Los Angeles Marathon on March 17 with my friend and relay partner Herbie to raise money for the Courage Campaign and I need your help!
Why the Courage Campaign? The Courage Campaign is a human rights organization based in my home state of California focusing on LGBT equality. They have been involved in the fight against Don't Ask, Don't Tell and have tirelessly opposed Prop 8, the initiative that overturned marrriage equality in California in 2008. They also contributed money and volunteers to support R-74, the 2012 ballot measure that secured marriage equality in the state of Washington where I currently live. My favorite thing about the Courage Campaign is their focus on educating the public about the personal consequences of discrimination. The Courage Campaign isn't just changing our laws, it's changing people's hearts and minds.
Why this cause? Because too many of my wonderful friends and colleagues don't have the same legal rights as I do just because they're gay, lesbian, or transgender. I don't think it's right and I feel compelled to do something about it.
What can you do to help? You can support my efforts by donating money to help me reach my fundraising goal of $1500. Any amount you can give will help and I'd be so appreciative! Your donation is tax-deductible and can be made right here on this page. And if you're in the LA area on March 17, feel free to come down to the race course and cheer me on. Running 13.1 miles is no easy task, but I know I'll be able to do it with your support!
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks for your help!
