We are Team Baxstreet! We are raising money for an Ainsley's Angels Freedom Racing Chair, so that Baxter can experience all the things a 5 year old kid loves! Let me tell you a little bit about Baxter & how a Freedom racing chair can help us. Baxter has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy - which means he has a hard time making his muscles do what he wants. That hasn't changed his tenacious and adventurous spirit though!
Our biggest challenge is figuring out how to make being a kid accessible -- playing with friends, being outdoors, being daring and just having fun! We recently discovered a couple of great groups that have helped us realize how we can overcome some of our challenges - Ainsley's Angels & Team Hoyt New England. They gave us the opportunity to get outside, get dirty, have adventures and try hard things with people who really get it. Through their support, we've been able to borrow a Freedom chair for our first few races. Now we know that it works for Baxter and that's been the best gift we could ask for! And the encouragement we've gotten from the other racing teams and runners has been amazing. They've really shown us how we can make this work.
Having our own racing chair would open up the world even more for Baxter by allowing us to get out more. We want to run like we have wings all the time, not just at races. Having a Freedom chair of our own would get Baxter where he loves to be - out in the world! We appreciate any support you can give to help us reach our goal!
