In September of 2016, while cycling on the Wayne State University campus, I was the victim of a hit and run incident. Sgt. Collin Rose was the first responder on the scene and, if not for his efforts, the driver of the vehicle might never have been found and charged. Unfortunately, I was never able to thank him. Less than two months later, Sgt. Rose was killed in the line of duty. To honor Sgt. Rose, who wore badge number 128, Team128 will ride this year's Baroudeur to generate funds for the Collin Rose Memorial Scholarship at WSU. Each Team128 rider agrees to donate or raise a minimum of $128 and, during the ride, will wear a special green and gold 128 rider number on their jersey. All Team128 riders will be provided special access to the front of the ride start, directly behind the police escorts. With just 20 riders, we can reach or exceed our goal of $2,500. Please join Team128 today or contribute whatever you can. Thank you.
Thomas M. DiJulio - Directeur Sportif, Team128
[Some logistics: Riders who reach their $128 fundraising minimum prior to Wednesday, August 16th, will receive their Team128 jersey number in their rider packet, at Packet Pick-Up on Friday, August 18th. (3 to 7 p.m. in the Matthaei Center parking lot.) Riders who reach their minimum after the 16th, can get their Team128 number, at the Packet Pick-Up desk, between 6:00 - 6:45 a.m, the morning of the ride.]
