EVENT DATE: May 21, 2016
It has been one of the best, yet least predictable, years of my life. An unexpected new job brought me crashing into Chicago, and every success along my new journey came with new barricades. But no matter what changes, I will always remain a supporter of the Icla da Silva Foundation and do my part to help God's angels extend their time on earth.
As always I hope you'll take the time to read, share, and support my effort to get more blood cancer patients the marrow match they need to survive. and thrive.
This year a strong, glowing 5 year-old boy named Asaya has come into our lives and we're doing all we can to keep him smiling and strong. I think about him every day and pray for him every night. And I hope and pray we'll be giving him a standing ovation as he walks across his college graduation stage 20 years from now. I can see it. I can feel it. The perfect marrow match brings weakened people back to life. The world needs more great spirits like Asaya, and the many others.
For those who are learning about my involvement with the Icla da Silva Foundation for the first time - I've seen both sides of the marrow donor story. This medical issue first came into my life as my mentor at Ogilvy, Marlon Layne, passed away while waiting for a marrow match. In all honesty before that I did not realize how dire this issue was, but also how treatable it is. So like many out there I was oblivious. But when you know more you must act. With new knowledge I've stepped in to ensure other families out there have a great chance at finding a marrow donor for their loved ones. And I have been overwhelmed with magical emotion to see many stories of lives that were saved due to the great work of the Icla da Silva Foundation and the Be The Match marrow registry.
With your help, I hope we can bring more live-saving treatments to patients searching for a marrow match. Your donation goes directly to register a more diverse array of marror donors on the registry, which increases the chances of each patient finding the live-saving donor they need.
I remain incredibly appreciative of the long-time, ongoing supporters, who support Icla because they support me. I will never forget my first donor, Kenny Alexander, who sparked for years of life-saving treatments for people around the world.
Immense thanks. Spread love.
