Teen Writers and Artists Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring teenagers in the arts - including writing, spoken word, theater, visual arts, & music - in order to facilitate their self-expression and self-empowerment. To help young people hone their crafts we provide workshops, online networks, and one-on-one partnerships with professional artists. Through our many programs we seek to build communities of artists across boundaries of place, age, race, gender, culture, genre & form. We believe that art is universally humanizing and communicative, and thus, is an important tool for cultural and social change. We strive to foster communities in which young people may not only find their voices, but develop as whole persons - in mind, body and spirit - in order to build future generations of natural leaders. By donating, you are helping support our program West Suburban Wordplay, and the costs to run it through 2017. For every $400 we raise, our organization is able to host an event for FREE to teens and community members of all ages across the area to come together to create and connect in a safe, friendly environment. If we reach our goal of $5000 raised, we can continue to provide at least one event per month through 2017!
