Animal Welfare League of Queen Anne's County is the open admission animal shelter for the county. This means that all domestic stray and unwanted animals end up in our care. Since taking over county animal services in September of 2013, we have worked to save every possible life that comes through our doors. This means ensuring they are healthy and behaviorally sound. From the beagle with mammary masses, the cat that was burned from a failed holistic flea treatment, the emaciated mastiff, the cat that stops using her litter box because she has arthritis so bad she cannot get in it, to the dog that doesn't accept the new dog that moved into the house and so he gets kicked out. These are just a few of the reasons we end up with the animals that we have. Each of these cases and so many more, require some type of investment to make sure they are ready to go into a new forever home. It's impossible to save all of these lives without help from the community.
