BENEFITING: Hudson River Maritime Museum
EVENT DATE: Nov 16, 2017
The Hudson River Maritime Museum needs your help in funding our amazing YouthBoat program. We offer this program for free to local teens, teaching them basic shop skills as they build wooden boats in focused, full-semester classes.
Students from diverse backgrounds work alongside experienced craftsman to learn and problem-solve in a challenging and innovative environment, complementing classroom learning. YouthBoat is designed to build character and develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through wooden boatbuilding and on-the-water activities like rowing and sailing. In the process, these kids become better students, better team mates, better stewards of the river, and maybe even better citizens of the community.
The Hudson River Maritime Museum has partnered with Ulster BOCES and Kingston High School to ensure that the students who wish to do so receive high school credit for this class. This program is offered free of charge and no student is turned away. However, the cost of this program is $1,250 per student per semester, or approximately $75 per week for each student. We need your help to ensure that we can continue to offer this important and innovative program. Please donate at any level to support YouthBoat and the students whose lives are forever changed by the skills they learn. Thank you!
