Hello everyone! If you haven’t already heard in September of 2017 I will be packing my bags, tucking away my dancing shoes, and saying “See ya later!” to my fabulous family, friends, and coworkers to travel to Zambia, Africa to work at Mwandi Mission Hospital for 6 months.
This may seem a little out of the blue, but with this past year of the political strife, natural disasters, and war I felt inspired to do something to help the world grow and heal. I have felt spurred by the gospel stories where Jesus healed the downtrodden that had been suffering and disregarded for years. With some research, I found CMMB and once I read their goal of making every human life feel valued and their mission to get there by using sustainable solutions - I was hooked!
While in Zambia I will be working in the rural town of Mwandi at the Mwandi Mission Hospital as a clinical officer-the Zambian equivalent of a physician assistant. In Zambia, there is only one healthcare worker available to provide care to 2,000 people, compared to the six healthcare workers available per 2,000 in the US. Mwandi Mission Hospital itself provides care to over 30,000 people between the town inhabitants and the numerous people in surrounding areas, many of which have to travel four to five hours to just reach the hospital. I will be working in this hospital with the local team to help provide care to this large population.
Thank you so much for just considering a donation that will allow me to reach the truly marginalized and vulnerable people in Mwandi, Zambia. I truly appreciate your help and support in this journey, as it is only through you that CMMB is able to do all of its work! I am looking forward to raising global awareness in regards to health, providing healing and comfort to those ill, supporting and sharing some of my knowledge with the local community, and also seeing what lessons are in store for me along the way.
CMMB is an NGO focused exclusively on global health care for the world’s poorest populations. We believe in a world in which every human life is valued, and health and human dignity are shared by all. Every year, we are so lucky to have generous, courageous people step forward and volunteer their time and expertise in areas of the world where it is most needed. They leave behind loved ones and employment to support our mission to help vulnerable women, children and families survive.
