BENEFITING: CHILD UNITED
Child United, a 501c3 organization based in Seattle, is mobilizing their efforts and organizing relief overseas. The organization is seeking relief supplies to send to the Philippines in an effort to provide help to survivors of the storm.
The organization's founder and a team is set to go to the Philippines Thursday 11/14. The team's efforts will be to provide relief to those who need it the most. The money will be used to buy essential items such as food/water and survival supplies for the victims. 100% of the proceeds will go toward disaster relief. The organization is small and their is little overhead. The team is paying their own way to the Philippines and those heading this effort are all volunteers.
The organization is seeking the following supplies for immediate disaster relief:
1) Money (Every penny counts. The more we collect, the more we are able to help)
2) Toiletries (Shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc)
3) Medications (Over-the-counter medications including ibuprofen, aspirin and children's meds)
A complete list of supplies can be located on the website including drop off locations and event fundraisers. You can track the team's journey into devastated areas through their Facebook Fan Page.
Child United has helped with disaster relief operations for the last five years, concentrating efforts in Southeast Asia, Haiti and Japan. The organization's founder has been recognized by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society in 2011 for her efforts overseas. For more info: http://www.childunited.org
