Services We Provide
The Prevention Team of Sunrise continues to collaborate with local law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and educators to implement best practices for working with Pasco youth to prevent first-time perpetration and first-time victimization of violence.
D.E.L.T.A. F.O.C.U.S. Program
Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancements and Leadership Through Alliances, Focusing on Outcomes for Communities United with States (DELTA FOCUS) Since 2008, Sunrise has been collaborating with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV) to implement the Primary Prevention with Youth Approach in Pasco County. Sunrise remains one of two sites in the state of Florida operating under this umbrella.
Counseling and Outreach
Sunrise provides free counseling to all survivors of domestic and sexual violence as well as friends and family who may be affected. Individual and group counseling is available to survivors regardless if the crime has been reported to law enforcement.
Sunrise also offers outreach services and advocacy services for survivors living in rural areas of Pasco County who may not otherwise be able to access services by going to where survivors live.
At Sunrise we strongly believe in building a strong financial foundation for our participants. That is why we created the Economic Empowerment Program to empower SV and DV survivors by lifting themselves out of poverty, by finding and keeping sustainable employment and housing needs. Our program consists of tools for personal development through financial empowerment, referrals, self advocacy, emotional support and safety services.
Sunrise participates in Pasco County’s Intimate Violence Enhanced Service Team (InVEST). InVEST was created by the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV) to reduce and prevent domestic violence homicides in Florida. Law enforcement agencies partner with certified domestic violence centers such as Sunrise to review police reports daily to identify potential high risk domestic violence cases.
Green Dot is a bystander intervention program that focuses on changing the behaviors of the community’s citizens to promote culture change. This program aims to end three major forms of power-based personal violence – dating/domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. This program equips community members with the tools to prevent or intervene in instances of violence.
Youth Community Action Team (YCAT)
YCAT is a group of dynamic students working together to create a safer community right here in Pasco County. YCAT offers students a chance to engage in thought provoking discussion that centers around self-empowerment, positivity and interpersonal relationships. We encourage our students chance to speak openly about the prevention of domestic and sexual violence, in addition to other current events. Our YCAT’s are leaders who are inspired by creating positive change within their community.
At Sunrise, we understand the complexity of the legal system in matters related to domestic and sexual violence. For this reason, we assist survivors with injunctions, civil and criminal court hearings, and attorney referrals. We also accompany victims to hearings, and help them file for relocation and compensation when appropriate. Sunrise and the legal team work closely with law enforcement, the State Attorney's Office and judges to prevent future violence and promote safety.
Injunction For Protection (IFP) Project
Our attorneys assist survivors by providing protective injunction assistance to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence .
