Struts for Cleveland Mutts!
Organized by: Jamie Jones
Event Name: Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon 2015
EVENT DATE May 17, 2015
Friends of the Cleveland Kennel is dedicated to saving the lives of the animals at the Cleveland City Kennel and helping to reduce intake by providing services to pet-owning residents of Cleveland. These efforts include medical care, supplies, adoptions, outreach and free services for pet owners in Cleveland.
I will run 13.1 miles during the Cleveland Rite Aid Marathon on May 17, 2015 in hopes to raise $1,310 to help the most overlooked animal facility in the Cleveland area. That's $100 per mile which will go far to help these animals. For example:
- $1,300 = 1 Exercise Run for Dogs at the Kennel - which gives the dogs a place to run outside so they don't always have to be inside their cages at the kennel.
- $1,000 = 10 Canine Spay/Neuters
- $500 = 1 Heartworm-Positive Dog's Care
- $250 = 1 Dog's Basic Vet Care
- $100 = 10 Dog's Flea/Tick Treatment
- $50 = 1 Cat to be Fixed, Tested and Vaccinated
In 2014, the Cleveland City Kennel took in 4,031 dogs, reunited 755 with their owners, adopted out 377 and transferred 2,065 to local animal shelters and rescue groups. Nearly 80 percent of the dogs at the kennel were left alive due to volunteers dedicated to saving the lives of animals and helping to reduce intake by providing services to pet-owning residents of Cleveland.
Most of the animals that arrive at the kennel have been abused or neglected. These animals are all very special, but they have not been the given the life that they deserve. Thank you for your consideration of my request and allowing me to assist in providing these animals hope for a new beginning.
