EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2018
The main FUN-draiser for Rutland Meals Challenge is our annual bowling event, STRIKE OUT HUNGER Benefit Bowl. This family friendly evening takes place at the Rutland Bowlerama on Friday, June 1st. Bowlers pay $15 per adult or $10 per child (under 10) to bowl. If they collect donations of $50 or more for Rutland Meals Challenge, they bowl FREE! The entry fee includes 2 games, shoe rental and snacks. There are up to 5 bowlers per lane (you can bring a “team” or we will match you up with other bowlers). There are prizes for the bowler (youth & adult) who brings in the most donations and the bowler (youth & adult) with the highest score. There are also prizes throughout the evening in the “Red Pin Raffe” as well as a 50/50 Raffle and Basket Raffle.
Bowlers, create your team page (just click Setup Your Fundraiser) and let the fun begin! Want to support a bowler? To find your favorite bowler, click on the big DONATE button to the right, select their team and then you can pick any team member to support.
Every dollar of your donation will provide 4 meals to our local food shelves. Please consider making a pledge online today with a credit card, or send a check (payable to: "Good Shepherd Lutheran Church" with "Rutland Meals Challenge" on the memo) to: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 6 Church Hill Road, Rutland, VT 05701
Rutland Meals Challenge is ministry of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in partnership with the greater Rutland community. Each January, hundreds of volunteers from across the community gather at the church to assemble bulk ingredients into packaged meals that are donated to over 15 local food shelves and hunger relief programs, as well as the Vermont Food Bank. Since 2013, Rutland Meals Challenge has donated over 205,00 meals. We hope to package 45,000 meals at our next event so we can reach the quarter million mark!
Every year Vermonters skip over 1 million meals, in Rutland County alone, there are 8,000 food insecure individuals, including 2,000 children. Hunger is a constant threat for children, for families with inadequate resources, and for seniors on limited incomes. We can come together as a community to make a difference and to have a good time feeding our neighbors!
