EVENT DATE: Jul 25, 2018
Stinky Spoke is the craziest mountain bike ride of the year!
It's also a fundraiser supporting the Redmond Rotary Foundation. It's what helps us do good things for families and children in our community and around the world.
Organizations that benefit from the money raised include:
ETHIOPIA WATER & HYGIENE PROJECT There are over a billion people in the world who don’t have access to clean water. In some communities every family must travel many kilometers daily to bring unhealthy water back to their homes. The impact is not only illness, but school hours taken from children who must carry water instead of learning. One of the worst areas is in Ethiopia. Our club took a leadership role in partnering with dozens of Rotary Clubs and World Vision to build wells, holding tanks, and water distribution stations, plus provide hygiene training to communities in Ethiopia. This project will bring clean water to over 30,000 people and will be completed in 2017.
LITTLE BIT THERAPEUTIC RIDING CENTER Redmond Rotary is a long-time supporter of Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center. Little Bit improves the bodies, minds, and spirits of children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted therapies and activities.
TOGETHER CENTER At Together Center, 20 agencies provide wide-ranging programs at one central location. 25,000 people yearly use services that include medical and dental care, mental health therapy, youth shelter, housing and homelessness supports, help for lifelong disabilities and much more. Thanks in part to Redmond Rotary grants, people find full-time information and referral staff, advocates for special needs, cultural navigation and other resources at the Center’s front door, so all find help when they need it.
HOPELINK PANTRY PACKS, ASSISTANCE LEAGUE & MORE Redmond Rotary cares for children and families with limited resources in numbers of ways. In addition to the above programs, Redmond Rotary supports pantry packs in the Lake Washington School Districts through Hopelink and the Issaquah School District through Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank. Pantry or Power Packs are backpacks filled with food for low-income children so they are not hungry over the weekend. Through Assistance League, the club helps children returning to school purchase clothing to have items that are comfortable and help them fit in with their peers.
200 Orphanages Worldwide helping international orphan care organizations around the world provide safety, shelter and sustainability for vulnerable children. Since 2007, children's basic needs have been met, such as cllean water wells, security walls, libraries, agricultural and livestock shelters, solar irrigation, even tractors and school buses.
STUDENT OF THE MONTH Redmond Rotary Club supports youth at our local high school who excel at academics, volunteerism and/or being role models for others.
STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS Redmond Rotary provides college scholarships to support academic or technical training to launch our youth into a successful adult life. In addition to youth graduating from college, the club supports adults who attend the Lake Washington Institute of Technology (average age of 32), so they can stay in school and build a new or improved career path.
Your support of our charity event provides so much more! Thank you!
