On August 26, we rescued Spud from Chicago Animal Care and Control (city pound) 30 min before he was to be euthanized. I am a transfer partner for Tree House Humae Society. Before picking him up we knew he had bandages on all of his legs, and that some sort of ulcerations were underneath.
This is a fundraiser to help us pay for Spud's vet costs. We are setting this up because the rescue we are working with does not have the funding to help pay for foster cats that are pulled from Animal Care and Control. Their wellness clinics are only held on Mondays and they book up fast because the clinic is small. We are responsible for all of his expenses. His first vet bill 8/28 was $162 with more to come for neutering and possibly a follow up visit to the vet.
As far as Spud's legs, the vet said they are healing very nicely. There isn't much than can be done for them at this point. The problem could have been caused by caustic chemicals, a severe flea infestation, or something else entirely. At this point the vet could not tell whether or not his fur will grow back. Spud is taking a strong antibiotic because the doctor is concerned that he might have or develop Mycoplasma, due to his severe flea infestation.
I'd like to thank Tree House Humane Society for allowing us to care for Spud and Wicker Park Veterinary Clinic for providing his care.
If we receive donations in excess of his medical costs, we will donate the remainder to Tree House Humane Society. www.treehouseanimals.org
Thank you for your help.
