20th Annual Walk for the Hungry and Homeless

It's our 20th year of walking to support the hunger and homeless initiatives at Spooner House!
The Main Event -- 20th Annual Walk for the Hungry and Homeless:
When: Saturday, May 20th
Where: Derby Greenway (Division Street entrance – parking available in BJ’s lot)
What: Spend a beautiful morning walking on the Derby Greenway with other Spooner House supporters. The whole route is 3.4 miles (1.7 miles one way and 1.7 miles back) but participants can choose to walk any distance they would like.
Time: 8:30 a.m. registration, 9:00 a.m. start
Registration is $20 per person and can be made online or at the Walk Kick-Off or before the Walk during registration.
The Day Before -- Walk Kick-Off and Open House:
When: Friday, May 19th
Where: Spooner House, 30 Todd Road in Shelton
What: Register in person and drop off your offline pledges. Pick up your walk t-shirt and goodie bag. Tour Spooner House if you haven't before
Time: 4-7 p.m.
*First 200 walkers to raise at least $20 will receive a Walk t-shirt and goodie bag*
*All walkers will be given one ticket for a drawing*

Spooner House Mission Statement:
Spooner House is operated by Area Congregations Together, Inc. with the mission of providing food, shelter and support services to people in need. All of our energies are devoted to helping our clients establish a self-sufficient living situation. We recognize the dignity of our clients, we give them our respect and we deliver our services without proselytizing.
Spooner House operates a 36-bed homeless shelter year round and an overnight no-freeze shelter program from November to March. In addition, the Valley Food Bank at Spooner House provides 120-160 households with 10 days' worth of groceries per person each month and distributes close to 700 holiday meal baskets in the months of November and December to Valley families in need.
At Spooner House, we are grateful to receive support from hundreds of volunteers and donors each year that allow us to keep doing what we do. Thank you for your support!
