Help us break down conventional barriers and inspire the paralyzed to experience the world.

Becoming paralyzed is a devastating life event that can happen to anyone. Here at Determined2Heal, we are dedicated to making the lives of the nearly 1.2 million people living with a spinal cord injury in the US as rich and fulfilling as possible.

We aim to do this by bringing rehabilitative adventures into their lives and by offering our game-changing mentoring platform with over 11,000+ spinal cord injury videos. We are also working tirelessly to transform disability employment laws nationwide through our “Willing to Work” campaign.

Here is where you come in.

Too many people who become newly paralyzed feel either physically or mentally alone, because no local organizations or mentors exist in their geographical area to show them what’s possible. Without the right support, reentering the world post injury is quite scary.

SPINALpedia.com changes all of this! Our thousands of community members and videos are all searchable based on physical functionality. No matter a person’s ability, there is always either something to learn or someone to reach out to.

This holiday season we're raising funds to continue our life-changing rehabilitative adventures, like adaptive waterskiing, sailing & indoor skydiving. Throughout 2018 Determined2Heal sponsored, organized and/or recruited 130 participants to experience one of ten adaptive sports and/or adventures. With your help we look forward to continue and to expand this program in 2019.

Our “Willing to Work” campaign is working hard to change the current disability employment laws and the many strict rules restricting earnings, savings, access to caregiving and punishing those who get married. Since our initial formation, we have persuaded Maryland’s Department of Health to form an EID Workgroup to tackle this issue head on. Our goal is to create model legislation in Maryland that then can be adopted by other states. We strongly believe that all abilities, whether disabled or not, deserve to remain safely in the community and to work if they are so willing.

We're also need your help to fund our SPINALpedia.com expenses and to pay the salary of our executive director Tiffiny Carlson (a C5-6 quadriplegic).

Our mission is to change the way the world sees and thinks about paralysis. Too many lose hope after a paralyzing injury and that needs to end.
