I am running a Marathon!
Or at least I have entered into, been accepted and started training to run in the biggest marathon in the World.
My inspiration to run in the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon is Meyer Beukes. I have uploaded a photo. Meyer is the son of a close friend of ours and was born with Spina Bifida.
His courage and perseverance inspired me to enter this race and run for this charity, as he has inspired all that had the privilege of meeting him.
I am running this race as part of Team Spina Bifida and we need your assistance.
Team Spina Bifida is the Spina Bifida Association's (SBA) endurance program whereby individuals can race in the marathon, half-marathon, or athletic event of their choice and raise money for the Spina Bifida community.
Spina Bifida is the most frequently occurring, permanently disabling birth defect in the United States. Every day, eight babies are born with Spina Bifida or a similar birth defect of the brain and spine. SBA works not only to enhance the lives of the more than 177,000 individuals living with Spina Bifida today, but to prevent the birth defect in future generations.
Your gift will be put to work immediately to fund education, advocacy, research, and support that will benefit those with Spina Bifida. Through programs like our National Resource Center, National Conference, Education Days, and our Spina Bifida Collaborative Care Network, we will continue to help individuals and families living with the birth defect to lead productive and fulfilling lives.
Thank you for your support!
