BENEFITING: Spina Bifida Association of America
ORGANIZER: Spina Bifida Association of America
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
I am running for Ben.
My son Benjamin Owen was born on 9/1/15 with Spina Bifida - L4/L5. I have been an avid runner for the last three years completing races at the marathon and ultra-marathon distance. When we were informed Ben would have Spina Bifida we learned so much about the disability, including the very likely possibility that he would not be able to run. I've been wanting to connect Ben to my running and this opportunity is the first step in doing so.
Thank you all so much for your support and please continue reading to learn more about Spina Bifida. And most importantly, donate!
Spina Bifida is the most frequently occurring, permanently disabling birth defect in the United States. Every day, eight babies are born with Spina Bifida or a similar birth defect of the brain and spine. SBA works not only to enhance the lives of the more than 177,000 individuals living with Spina Bifida today, but to prevent the birth defect in future generations.
Your gift will be put to work immediately to fund education, advocacy, research, and support that will benefit those with Spina Bifida. Through programs like our National Resource Center, National Conference, Education Days, and our Spina Bifida Collaborative Care Network, we will continue to help individuals and families living with the birth defect to lead productive and fulfilling lives.
