As a Spectrum Scholar, I gained more than amazing leadership training and financial support from the program, I gained a support network that has helped me throughout my career. The Spectrum Scholarship, and the Spectrum Institute shaped my career path in profound ways and without the guidance and support I recieved through my being accepted into this scholarship program, I would not be where I am today.
I was always taught, and I believe, that when good comes to you, it is your duty to do good in return and in thanks. In this spirit, I hope that I can ask for your donation. Please help me support the future of profession through this important and meaningful program.

Librarians wield a great power in the world, which is the trust of their users. To nurture and engage this trust, we should show users that no matter who they are, they matter to the library. And shouldn’t they see themselves in their librarians? Alice Son – ALA Spectrum Scholar (2015)
Library workers transform the lives of individuals and their communities. As a Spectrum donor, you directly support leaders working to:
- Ensure that all people, communities and their humanity are in the historical record by speaking out against erasure of the legacies of the less privileged from our archives and cultural institutions.
- Position libraries as gateways not gatekeepers for immigrants, refugees, and undocumented students.
- Build strong professional networks that support retention and establish brave spaces for honest conversation about how much still needs to be done.
Help ALA keep serving as a powerful voice for our future. Please consider making a contribution to the Spectrum Scholarship Program.
