BENEFITING: Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital
ORGANIZER: Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
We are thrilled to be running the 2017 Boston Marathon. Spaulding Rehabilitation is a network that is near and dear to our family's heart. Three years ago, we ran the 2014 Boston Marathon for Spaulding Rehab with our mom, Robin Harvey. Spaulding Rehabilitation hospital played such an instrumental role in the recovery of our mom, Robin. After being struck from behind by a drunk driver, while riding her bike home from work in April of 2012. She suffered a number of injuries, but most significantly, a Traumatic Brain Injury. It was so important to our mom to give back to Spaulding, as they took such great care for her. She was able to make a miraculous recovery and the three of us ran on Spaulding's 2014 Race for Rehab Boston Marathon Team.
The experience we had together was unforgettable and plays out to be bigger than we anticipated. The following year, Robin and Adriene were training to run the 2015 Boston Marathon for Spaulding again, when Robin was struck by a car, while out for a run on February 1st. She did not survive her injuries.
While very emotional for our family, it is vitally important to carry on the work that our mom would have wanted us to do. This year Kari and I will train together for the first time since we ran with mom in 2014. We feel blessed and proud to join the 2017 Race for Rehab team and we hope you consider donating to this amazing cause as we run for those who can't.
Peace and Love, Adriene & Kari

Spaulding Rehabilitation Network is proud to be an official BAA Charity Team for the 2017 Boston Marathon. Over the past 12 years, more than 350 runners have raised over $3.5 million directly supporting Spaulding's patients. Funds raised through the Race for Rehab program have provided advancements to patient care, education, research innovation and capital improvements. Every dollar supports our mission to improve the quality of life for persons recovering from or learning to live fully with illness, injury or disability.
This year, funds raised will support the many research initiatives within the Spaulding Network. Our research aims to improve the care we provide as well as patient outcomes in clinical areas such as spinal cord injury, brain injury, musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.
We are so thankful for the hard work and dedication of all of our runners, as well as the friends and family members who support them. Our team is comprised of former patients, family members, loyal volunteers and dedicated staff. Together, we will help our patients find their strength.
