Please, help the Somerset County Historical Trust in its continuing efforts to preserve our local heritage.

The Somerset County Historical Trust serves as a resource in the county, working with the Maryland Historical Trust, assisting with documenting sites of interest, filing nomination forms for properties for the National Register of Historic Places, publishing historical resource books and documents, and more. Among these activities, the Trust works with partners and funders to save properties of historical significance that are suffering from disrepair or in danger of demolition in Somerset County, Maryland. Since it’s inception, the Trust has helped saved four homes - the Brittingham House, the Littleton-Long House, the Cottman-Pinkett House, and most recently, moving the c.1750 Waddy House (pictured) to a new site, ensuring its future preservation. Structures like these are rapidly disappearing from our landscape and once they're gone, they're gone forever.

Funding for preservation projects is largely dependent on donations from concerned citizens. It is critical that the Trust maintain reserves that can be quickly accessed in short-term emergencies which require immediate action to save significant Somerset properties.
