BENEFITING: Girls on the Run - Chicago
ORGANIZER: Girls on the Run - Chicago
Welcome to my fundraising page! After moving to Chicago in June 2016, I found myself enjoying the SPECTACULAR Chicago summers (trust me, I understand why people say they are magnificent as I'm living through winter) running alongside Lake Michigan. I was never the fastest nor did I run the longest, but I loved how confident I felt after each run. Seeing the step counts on my FitBit weren't half bad either. I ran my first long-ish distance race in August 2016 at the BIG 10 10k. Now I am here - combining two of my favorite things, running and Girls on the Run! I hope to raise at least $700 by race day, the Solider Field 10 Miles on May 27th, to support an organization that is striving to serve 2 million girls by 2020.
I was first exposed to Girls on the Run in Fall 2013 when my sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, partnered with GOTR International as our national philanthropic partner. Gamma Phi Beta's philanthropic focus is Building Strong Girls, and Girls on the Run perfectly aligns with our vision to build confident women of character. Girls on the Run makes it clear that it is NEVER too early to be confident and be the best version of yourself.
Girls on the Run builds confidence and resiliency for its participants, and I hope to feel that way at the end of those 10 miles in May. I wish I had Girls on the Run when I was younger, so I hope to pay it forward and build the strongest, brightest, and best generation of women the world has ever seen.
Thank you for your support from the bottom of my HEART & SOLE!
