Join us for a day of camaraderie to raise awareness about human trafficking in our area. We are going to have fun, be healthy, and do good!
Run or walk on Saturday, November 1st, 2014 at the Pope John Paul II Park.
Registration: 7:30 - 8:30am
Runners race at 8:30am. Walkers race at 9:30am.
We will have water stations, face painting, and all sorts of neat things for family and friends of the runners and walkers.
WILL YOU JOIN US in raising awareness about human trafficking? Your donation/fundraising will make it possible for us to buy water, medical kits, and all the other necessities that go into a 5k race. Anything left over will go into making it possible for us to continue working towards our greater goals of creating safe places and points of connection in our community.
The SOBO Project (See the One. Be the One.) was created to raise awareness about human trafficking, to create safe places to be for people at risk, and to partner with others in developing places for people to recover, heal, and find empowerment after having gone through the trauma of being a victim of trafficking.
Please Note: The River South Center's 501(c)3 status was approved in the summer of 2014, but we had begungearing up for the 5K before that process was fully finished. We want the Center to be its' own entity because we don't want religious beliefs to be a barrier for people who care about ending human trafficking but don't agree with Christian practices or have been hurt by the church, etc. But before the Center was its' own entity, it was an arm of The River Church South which is helping to host the event this year. We wanted you to know that all of the money that comes in for the race will go directly to the costs of the race and to the work of The River South Center. The River Church will not be keeping any portion of the funds whatsoever. Next year, we are pleased to say that the Center will be ready to host the race on its' own. We hope you will partner in this important cause, and we wanted to be explicit about why the Crowdrise page says "Benefitting: The River Church."
