The garden is an ecosystem for investigation and a laboratory for experimentation. Through a partnership with Education Outside, weekly, standards-based lessons invite students to learn sustainable gardening techniques through the eyes of a scientist. We learn about water conservation through tending to plants, decomposition through making compost, and ecosystem interactions through sustainable pest management. Hands-on activities encourage students to care for the garden and the environment, all while growing food for the school to enjoy.
Thank you for donating to help us purchase tools, garden infrastructure, and learning materials to help the Commodore Sloat Elementary garden and students grow!
