BENEFITING: GLOBAL AUTISM PROJECT
ORGANIZER: GLOBAL AUTISM PROJECT
There are over 70 million people in the world diagnosed with Autism; 85% of these people live in developing countries where access to appropriate services and resources is limited. In many of these areas, children with Autism are outcast by their communities, or even threatened or hurt simply due to their diagnosis and a lack of understanding. Because they are unable to speak for themselves, people like you and I need to speak for them. By sharing our skills, time, and money we can make a lasting difference for these kiddos, who have every right to a happy, safe, and fulfilled life that comes easy to many children here at home.
The mission of the Global Autism Project is to "...promote the acceptance and integration of individuals with autism worldwide by training communities in culturally relevant, sustainable practices."
SkillCorps Volunteers traveling to Indonesia in February of 2017 (that's me!) will be assisting with training in the Hi-5 Center for children with autism in Jakarta. By donating to this fundraiser, you are directly supporting the clients served in Indonesia and joining an amazing cause; these funds cover training teachers, creating and conducting assessments, providing community outreach and education, and ensuring a sustainable, ongoing ABA service for these kids!! Please consider sharing even a few dollars to this campaign, and help change lives. Thank you!
