BENEFITING: GLOBAL AUTISM PROJECT
ORGANIZER: GLOBAL AUTISM PROJECT
In 2010 I had my first experience working a few hours a week as a home aide with a sweet, smart, joke-loving 11 year old boy with Autism. The day that I went through my initial training in the use of Applied Behavior Analysis - I was hooked. It became my goal to continue helping individuals learn to the best of their ability, and to educate caregivers and the community on the effectiveness of ABA teaching methods.
Since then I have been lucky enough to have continued doing what I love, while working and growing as a professional in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. I am continually amazed and humbled by the small lessons I learn every single day while working with families, educators, and individuals with ASD in the Columbus community. They continue to demonstrate perseverence, a willingness to learn, and a level of compassion that are inspiring. I could not be more proud to be a part of this amazing field and profession, and am over-the-moon excited to begin the next leg of my Journey by volunteering at the SOREM center in Chandigarh, India.
Along with the SkillCorps Volunteers I will be traveling to India in February of 2018 to assist with training at SOREM, a center for children with autism and other developmental disabilities in Chandigarh. The center is run by a fantastic team of clinicians and volunteers who are eager to collaborate with our SkillCorps team!
Please join me in my mission to help promote sustainable teaching programs and advocacy for individuals with Autism within the Chandigarh community. Any amount helps!! I am filled with gratitute for your support, and for the opportunity to participate in this amazing program!
