BENEFITING: LOS ANGELES YOUTH NETWORK LA YOUTH NETWORK
EVENT DATE: Oct 31, 2014
THE STORY:
When we were opening Wood & Vine, my partners and I were seeking a local nonprofit organization to partner with in order to be a true corporate citizen. After a lot of research and surprisingly large number of dead ends, we were introduced to Los Angeles Youth Network, an organization whose mission is to empower abused, neglected and homeless adolescents to become self-sufficient. Over time, we have raised funds for LAYN through the sale of our profiteroles, provided training and internships to homeless youth and hosted events for the organization. In 2012, I was invited to join LAYN's Board of Directors. I am extremely proud of the work LAYN has done to serve foster and homeless youth throughout L.A. County. It’s been a true labor of love to be a part of the LAYN mission to help homeless youth in our community and now, I'm excited to tell you about what lies ahead for this amazing organization.
Los Angeles Youth Network has outgrown its original, dormitory style, emergency shelter facility, and we are moving! In the fall of 2014, we will be relocating our Emergency Shelter Program to a beautiful Craftsman-style home in a neighborhood setting. This new home will enable LAYN to provide 12-17 year-old foster youth, many who have been victims of abuse and neglect, with more high quality programs and services in a safe and nurturing environment that many of them have never known.
Each of us at LAYN is doing our part to make this dream a reality, but I need your help. I have committed to raising $5,000 to sponsor the Laundry Room in the new home and I invite you to join me in this endeavor by making a donation to contribute to this beautiful and inspiring space.
Your tax deductible gift will be greatly appreciated and truly make a difference in the life of child.
