SHARE Community, Inc.

A non-profit sharing community helping to pay for emergency vet services for dogs in need.

Tens of thousands of dogs are euthanized each year when their family can’t afford to pay for life-saving emergency vet services. Tens of millions more dog guardians would be hard-pressed financially in a life-threatening canine emergency to immediately pay for the vet care of their beloved companions.

The Share Community and the No Dog Down program is NOT Pet Insurance nor is it Crowdfunding. Instead, it’s a community based model called Canine Health Cost Sharing. By paying a flat monthly membership into the SHARE community we can help you with First Dollar payment of the veterinarian services needed to care for your family dog in emergencies, and your contributions help other members with theirs.

We all love our dogs!

I have a German Wirehaired Pointer (mix) named Maddie. We love Maddie and after hearing several stories about the horrors families have gone through during an emergency with their dogs, I wanted to make sure that did not happen to our family and our Maddie.

But we can't do it alone;  we want to make sure it doesn't happen to your family either.

You see, more than 100,000 dogs a year are having to be put down (put to death under euthanasia) solely because the family could not afford to pay for the Emergency Vet Care.

This is called "economic euthanasia".

Being a Doctor of Health Administration and dealing with how to finance health care for humans every day, I knew I had to figure this problem out. I did not want any family to put their dog to death when an emergency procedure is available to save the dog's life and save the family the heartache of putting their family pet members down.

So, this is what we decided to do.

First, we created the Share Community as a non-profit organization in late 2019 and applied for 501c3 exemption status as a Charity by the IRS.

In Dec., the IRS granted us our exemption. Here is a link to the letter for your review: https://share.dog/news/f/we-now-have-our-501c3-tax-exemption

Next, we want to create a GoFundMe campaign to raise the startup funds we need to build what is called a community-based vet cost-sharing program for all dog owners. We talk much more about it on our first website (that we hope you will help update to make it fresh and more attractive), but for now, we needed a name for our Startup Crowdfunding Campaign.

We came up with the name, No Dog Down, for the campaign with the mission to "end economic euthanasia together."

We hope you will join us in this mission and cause ending this trend of putting dogs down due solely to the financial needs of the family.

For early adopters that believe with your hearts, I appreciate your passion and confidence in our ability to make this happen. You can check me out personally on my LinkedIn page and know this isn't my first venture.

We do have some swag items we plan to give away once we raise the initial funds we need.

As we get started, we will continuously update this GoFundMe campaign website and very soon we will be working together to save the lives of dogs and helping families in need financially to pay for the emergency vet care of their family's best friend.

Most Sincerely,

Dr. Gordon Jones
