BENEFITING: SHAMROCK ANIMAL FUND INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 04, 2015
One week after the Festival of Races the Shamrock Animal Fund is organizing the Healthy Pet Clinics at St. Lucy's Church on Syracuse's near west side. This is our 5th anniversary of serving the neediest neighborhoods in our community. For $10 pet owners get exams, vaccinations, flea/tick treatment and other care from a generous team of volunteer veterinarians, technicians and animal lovers. We have helped more than 3,000 pets in five years.
In addition, the primary mission of the Shamrock Animal Fund is to help pay for veterinary care for animals in need that have owners with financial limitations. Some days we get five or six calls or e-mails for assistance. The owner must pay the majority of the bill, the veterinarian offers a discount and the Shamrock Animal Fund helps pay from there. Hundreds of families have benefited from payment, advice and direction given by our all volunteer staff.
One pet owner whose dog had cancer recently wrote: "I am writing this with many thanks and much gratitude. Because of your kind hearts and generous contribution for my Sheltie Maggie's surgery, I am happy to report that her surgery was a success. I knew I wouldn't be able to afford chemo and radiation if it had been evasive, but also knew that she deserved that one chance. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!"
