There are 30,000,000 children at risk of vitamin A deficiency disorder (VAD) in India, a condition that compromises immunity to disease and leads to an estimated 330,000 childhood deaths every year. Many more children experience stunted development or contract night blindness and cannot attend school when they’re old enough. SevaChild administers a vitamin A supplement that protects children from VAD. We are currently reaching 1.2 million children through our network of trained volunteers in 18 of India’s 29 states. Our goal for 2017 is to reach 2 billion children.
Your monthly donation of $25 per month will allow us to administer life-saving vitamin A supplements to an additional 2,500 children! In other words, your $25 per month – less than half of your monthly cable bill – can quite literally save children’s lives. It can also help put them on a healthy development track so that they can begin primary school without the risk of stunted growth or impaired cognitive functioning. It can not only make all the difference between a child surviving to reach their schooling years, but also starting their schooling with a healthy body and mind, ready to learn, grow and take their proper place in our world family.
