BENEFITING: Alzheimer's Association
ORGANIZER: Seth and Lauren
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2014
Seth Rogen is doing something super cool for his birthday: He's raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease by challenging us to raise money to help find a cure.
My goal is to raise at least $1.
I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but my goal is more about awareness then it is to win the contest.
Why am I doing this?
From now until April 15th, I’ll be collecting donations for the Alzheimer’s Association in an attempt to become one of two top fundraisers and an opportunity to have a rock, paper, scissors battle to steal Seth Rogen’s birthday. Which includes winning some cool stuff.
But why am I really doing this?
I am doing this because I've known far too many people and families, including my own, that have been affected by Alzheimer's. I also believe we need more awareness and more education along with more funding for research.
Here are the sad facts about Alzheimer's Disease:
Every 68 seconds, another American develops the disease and more than 5 million Americans are living with it.
By 2050, as many as 16 million Americans will have the disease and an American will develop the disease every 33 seconds.
Alzheimer’s disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States.
Alzheimer’s is the only cause of death among the top 10 in America without a way to prevent, cure, or even slow its progression.
Of those suffering with Alzheimer's 2/3 of them are women.
All donations to this fundraising campaign will go to the Alzheimer's Association, the leading, global voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care and support, and the largest private nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research.
