Serve the Children, the founders of All God’s Children (AGC) schools were compelled to help the war orphans and former child soldiers of Liberia after witnessing firsthand the atrocities of the civil war. The first All God’s Children school was established in the capital of Monrovia in 1997 as the only tuition free school in the country – and the only school focused on Christian education and counseling for former soldiers and war orphans.
AGC schools operated consistently and expanded steadily – even during wartime. As former child soldiers have aged through AGC Schools, the mission has expanded from war orphans and former soldiers to reach children who simply cannot afford to pay for school. More than one thousand children grades K-12th are impacted each year through the three All God’s Children schools.
Serve the Children JUST received a special announcement from Liberia:
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has recorded its largest failure in the 2016 Senior High School category in four years. This year, 22,671 out of 46,927 students who registered for the exams, failed. According to WAEC 2016 results released, those failed constitute nearly half (48.46%) of the total number of students registered.
9 of AGC's 12 FIRST SENIOR CLASS passed (75% or higher) successfully. Our school is EXCELLING!
Serve the Children expects that each year in the future our class will grow numerically, and that our school will continue to surpass all schools in the area on the WAEC!
This has been possible because of your continuous financial support. BRAVO!
Unfortunately, due to tight financial restrictions and changes to our fundraising calendar, our schools in Liberia are at risk for loosing our greatest asset: TEACHERS! We are raising $20,000 to complete the teaching contracts for the 2015-2016 school year and to begin the contracts for the 2016-2017 school year.
