Nikola Tesla Day is a public and educational event, started in July 2010 at the City of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada by Serbian School “Nikola Tesla”. With the 4 (four) year efforts of Serbian Scbool Nikola Tesla and Canadian Tesla Technical Museum it was finally established and proclaimed in 2015.
The educational model is to build upon public awareness and general education one of the greatest minds and greatest scientists to have ever lived, an electrical and mechanical engineer and technological visionary Nikola Tesla.
Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was an American Inventor of Serbian origin whose 308 patents in the fields of AC Polyphase System, used to develop first Hydroelectric Plant at Niagara Falls in 1895, Radio Technology including Wireless Communication, Telegraphy and Radio Controlled Devices are trade mark inventions that allowed the 20th century to evolve as it has.
In 1960, the SI (International System of Units) awarded the unit for Magnetic Flux Density or Magnetic Field Strength to Nikola Tesla – T [Tesla] = T = Wb/m2.
On July 9th, 2015, Major Jim Diodati proclaimed July 10th “Nikola Tesla Day” as a working Holiday in the City of Niagara Falls, Ontario.
On November 22nd, 2019 Niagara Parks Commission proclaim that the landscape plaza surrounding the Bronze Tesla Statue be named “Nikola Tesla Plaza“.
