Erin Davis wrote -Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County is a 501[c] 3 nonprofit organization, a program under the umbrella of the Council of Orange County, Society of St. Vincent de Paul. For 28 years, Second Harvest Food Bank has been dedicated to alleviating hunger and developing programs to increase awareness of the hunger problem in Orange County. Second Harvest Food Bank’s primary work is collecting and distributing surplus food throughout Orange County. Through a network of nearly 500 member charities Second Harvest alleviates food insecurity for more than 240,000 individuals in Orange County each month. Our member agencies are non-profit organizations such as shelters, churches, homes for battered and abused women and children and local pantries. As a vital link between the food industry and agencies that feed those at-risk of hunger, Second Harvest Food Bank has distributed more than 272 million pounds of food to the hungry in Orange County.
