Second Call Thoroughbred Adoption and Placement Program, Inc.
Second Call, founded in 2012, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Thoroughbred Adoption and Placement Program dedicated to New Jersey’s off-the-track Thoroughbreds. Serving as the exclusive "After Care Program" for Monmouth Park, the mission is to assist, and ensure that retired racehorses find a SECOND calling and/or profession. Thoroughbreds accepted into the program are rested, evaluated, and re-acclimated. They are then transitioned to proven trainers with a financial stipend from Second Call who retrain and prepare the former racehorses for their new tasks. Every effort is made to ensure successful, long-term placements.
Second Call is 100% volunteer run and operates solely on donations. While we evaluate, rehab, and retrain our horses, they also have ongoing needs in addition to hay, oats, and water. We are in continual need of things like Halters, Wormers, Blankets, Lead Ropes, Wound Salve, Grain, Hay Supplements, Halters, Lead Ropes, Blankets, Riding Equipment, Medical Supplies, Bandages, Ointments, Health-related Supplies, Wormer, and Vaccines.
Our mission is to help retired racehorses find a SECOND career and a loving home. Horses adopted into the program are evaluated, rested, and rehabilitated as needed. The Thoroughbreds are then placed with qualified adopters and or trainers to begin their chance at a second career.
