The SCM School of Competitive Math (a non-for-profit organization registered with Canada Corporation Act under no. 782145-0) was established in Sumer 2010, Ottawa, Canada. The first academic year started on 22 September 2010 with two classes (grade 8 and grade 9). The classes were weekly, two hours each. Six children attended the school, thee in grade 8 and three in grade 9.

The School was developed based on classical traditions of systematic math education. Our goal is to help children build a solid foundation to broaden their mathematical horizons particularly in those fields from where Olympiad problems are drawn. We provide our students with a thorough understanding of every mathematical concept and we link math concepts to real-world situations, creating a context of understanding with an emphasis on problem solving.

We prepare our students in a competitive environment, homework oriented; our students will not cite rules for solving math problems; they understand them – correcting their errors through conceptual understanding.

This is an elitist school. Anyone with the desire to learn is accepted. However, only by working hard the student can keep his/her name on this elitist group. The school promotes self discipline and work ethic.

The school is a private initiative. No public money is involved and no public curriculum is assumed.

The website of the School is

For the academic year 2011-2012, we have the intention to increase the size of the classes to 15 students, for grade 8 and grade 9. In this context, we request funding for (i) advertising the school in local newspapers and street advertisement, (ii) rental fees, and (iii) additional expenses (photocopies, dry erase markers, etc).
