Help save Quadriplegics Home
Organized by: Bezanis Family
WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR ANSWERED PRAYER
UPDATE: Our family is delighted to announce that through Crowdrise and off-line donations, Nikolas has reached his goal of $250.000 to save the house. We are anxiously waiting to hear the set date for the closing and we will post another update.
There will never be words sufficient to adequately express our deep appreciation for your generosity..... you have made a difference in Niko's life as well as ours. Please know that we will never forget how blessed we are to be the recipients of your kind gifts.
Thank you....God Bless You,
The Bezanis Family
WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF PRAYER
UPDATE: On January 9th, taking into consideration the great response of the fundraiser, the judge did not make a ruling. Instead asked both lawyers to work it out and set a date in six weeks for a status report. We are grateful for the outcome in court for Nikolas to continue living in the home that was retrofitted to meet his needs. WITHOUT YOU THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE.
Once the home is purchased, we will leave fundraiser open and any additional funds raised will go for a new Home Care Hill-Rom Tri-Flex Bed for Niko, with a Low AirLoss and Alternating Pressure Surface mattress to help prevent and treat pressure ulcer. (no state assistance for this type of bed). Price of bed and mattress $43,742
Please continue to pray for Niko's health and well being and THANK YOU for all your continued support....GOD BLESS YOU
JANUARY 2017 UPDATE: Please join us in praying that Nikolas will reach his goal in the "Save Niko's Home" fundraiser campaign. With all the online and offline donations, and a loan from a private foundation that was offered to him, he is still short $45,000 to meet his goal.
Pray for all of us to stay strong and to have constant faith. Pray especially for Niko's health and well-being, now and in the future years.
YOU CAN HELP BY DONATING TO KEEP NIKO IN HIS HOME THAT WAS RETROFITTED TO MEET HIS NEEDS AND PLEASE CONTINUE TO SHARE HIS STORY ON YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA
As we are approaching our day in court in a few days (January 9, 2017) for the judges ruling, we would like to thank each person who made a donation online, offline, raised funds, sent prayers, and shared Niko's story. You have made all the difference! Please know how deeply grateful we are for your generosity.
He wouldn't have come this far without the support of friends, family, and the countless wonderful people out there who have already loved and supported him through this difficult time.
God Bless You
DECEMBER 2016 UPDATE: There have been many generous donations so far, but Nikolas has not met his goal. As of 12/02/2016, the judge gacefully extended the deadline to 1/9/2017, if there's not enough funds raised to purchase the home, giving up occupancy will take place.
PLEASE FIND IT IN YOUR HEART TO HELP BY DONATING WHAT YOU CAN, SHARING HIS STORY WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY, AND SHARING HIS FUNDRAISER CAMPAIGN ON YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA.
Anything you can do will be appreciated even if it is your prayers for the success of this campaign.
We thank you for your time in reading our son's story. Feel free to visit his Facebook page @Nikolas Bezanis and follow the progress of this campaign.

IMAGINE … if you can:
Imagine a 20 year old, healthy in every respect enjoying a warm sunny day on a lake with friends north of Chicago. Imagine that 20 year old’s life shattered to forever when an innocent dive into the lake results in a broken neck and traumatic brain injury, rendering me a quadriplegic. This happened 8 years ago.
Imagine over a year in the hospital fighting for your life with your family by your side. Coming home and requiring around the clock care and medication administered every few hours.
Imagine the blessing of a father who is a carpenter who can make modifications to the house we live in so I can get around both inside and out. Imagine the love of your parents spending their entire savings and putting over $140,000 into these improvements, not to mention the blessing of University of Illinois architecture students donating their time and talents for a ramp system paid for by DHS so I can get in and out of the front door of the house. This project cost about $12,000.00.
Imagine the blessing of a mother who stops working her business to tend to my needs 24/7. She feeds me, does several loads of laundry daily, runs out to get my food and medicine and rushes back to help with all of my personal needs. This goes on all day and all night, every day of every year. She is a true warrior and my hero at only 5 feet 1 inch.
Imagine the news that your house that you are living in and renting with a rent to own contract with your landlord is being foreclosed. Imagine that your family had $50,000 of “equity” in the house from payments made to the landlord with the rent to own contract and then imagine that the landlord files a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, wiping out all of that “equity”.
Now imagine the bank foreclosing and demanding that me and my family move out. My parents have exhausted all of their savings making improvements for me to get around in my wheelchair, all of the equity from rent payments has vanished and we are to be put on the street soon as the judge who has been sympathetic to my case, has run out of time and any ability to allow us to stay in the house through Motions filed by our attorney. All of the improvements made specifically for me will likely be changed back to normal door widths, normal counter heights, normal bathrooms and normal bedroom size, etc. Like we were never here.
Imagine then this
• I won’t have a house.
• The state has no facility that I can go to as they cannot take care of a quadriplegic with the extent of my brain injuries.
• All of the improvements (totaling over $150,000) will be torn out and the house rebuilt for “normal” people.
What I am asking is that you find it in your heart to help me to raise enough money to purchase the house from the bank so I can spend my days with my family caring for me. There are no state facilities, NONE in Illinois, due to budget cuts that could even come close to providing the care I need. In fact, I was in a local primary care facility and almost died because not one person or one facility has the ability to care for my needs. The effects of my medication and lack of state funding for proper physical therapy have contributed to my weight ballooning to almost 500 pounds! Only my parents can properly provide the care and attention I need. Without them, my fate is certainly sealed.
We need to raise $270K in the next few weeks or the house is in imminent risk of being turned over to the bank.
Imagine now, you going to your computer and donating what you can, $10, $20, or whatever you can to help me purchase this specially adapted house and allow me to live my days with the people who love me and have given everything they have to give.
In the event you cannot make a donation, you can help by sharing this message with family and friends and perhaps they would be able to provide some assistance at
Anything you can do will be appreciated even if it is your prayers for me for success in this campaign.
