BENEFITING: Catch A Lift Fund
Sarah Ashley wrote -In the last year and a half, I have rekindled my love of fitness. I have tried all sorts of things from working out at home, to Cross Fit to running a couple half-marathons. I convinced my super cool 5 year old son that running the Star Wars Dark Side 5K during our long awaited trip to Disney World in April would be wicked fun. But when I got around to registering, the event was sold out. After the initial disappointment, I found what I considered a loop hole - signing up as part of the "Catch a Lift" team. Their mission is to rehabilitate injured post-9/11 combat veterans through physical fitness, motivation, and support. An amazing 90-95% of what they bring in goes to funding programs such as gym membership, personalized fitness and nutrition plans, and even at-home equipment. I've read about the man their efforts memorialize and a few of the recipients who share that this program saved their life. The website explains how they've found that increasing fitness leads to increased mental and emotional strength, better sleep, fewer medications, and better relationships. So while I initially signed up as a means to an end, I find myself incredibly inspired. I personally strongly believe that physical fitness is one action step toward the ultimate goal of whole health and do what I can to promote this idea. The group that I stumbled upon, Catch A Lift, mirrors these objectives and is targeted at a group that far too often gets left behind. Who really deserve to be in the forefront. Don't you just love it when God gives you a nudge?! I am so grateful to be a part of this team! Peter and I would greatly appreciate your support not only for us, but for the great work CAL does!
