Sammy Jo's recovery
Organized by: Joan Heaton
On September 6 2015 Sammy was involved in a terrible one car accident and was life flighted to Truman Hospital in Kansas City. She has a broken pelvis and severe brain injury. She has been in a coma since the incident. Her family lives over an hour away. Her mother is currently working two jobs as well as driving back and forth to the hospital every day. They have family with her around the clock monitoring her in hopes of good changes to come. The doctors are currently discussing a long term care facility, however, until Sammy starts responding, it is unclear if that is a possibility. Even with a long term facility it is unclear what the outcome will be. The extent of her brain injury is unclear until she regains conscience. There are simple things that may need to be re taught such as walking and talking. Sammy does not have health insurance and because of her age she is not eligible to be added to her mothers. We all know how much of a financial burden medical expenses can be, especially without insurance. Her mom is barely making enough to drive back and forth. Any penny that can help the family with medical expenses and transportation is extremely appreciated, but most of all they are asking for prayers for Sammy to fully recover.
all funds will go to Sammy Jo's family to pay medical expenses as well as transportation costs to care for her during this time
