Thanks for visiting! This is my second year running the Boston Marathon for Samaritans! Last year was my first ever marathon and the entire experience was so pivotal that I had to do it again.
I chose to run for a Suicide prevention charity because I myself nearly took my life in 2012. Talking about mental health personally is somewhat taboo. People hear "mentally ill" and they have an image in their head, and that can cause people to suffer in silence. That isolation often contributes to a person taking their life. I am doing this again so that I have to talk to people about what I went through and show them that the face on mental illness can look just like the face of their mother, daughter, boyfriend, boss, teacher, or even the face you see in the mirror.
When I'm not running, you can find me volunteering on the Samaritans hotline, dominating the Rugby pitch, and conquering mountains with my furry sidekick, River.
