Clay Ulman wrote -On May 1st, we will be participating in a Sun Salutation Relay as part of Salute the Sun Wisely: A Day of Yoga to Raise Awareness about Melanoma and Funds for Melanoma Research. With the help of supporters like you, this event has raised almost $5,000 for each of the past two years and we hope to do even better this year. Melanoma is a deadly form of skin cancer that affects young people disproportionately. It is the most common cancer in young people aged 25 to 29. The past year has continued to bring exciting advances in research, which are translating into longer lives for those with advanced melanoma. Melanoma research is also leading the way in finding effective new treatments for other cancers. At least 30 cancers are now being treated with drugs originally developed for melanoma. We devote each round of our sun salutations to those who have survived, who are fighting, and those whom we have lost to melanoma, as well as to the researchers who are working to find a cure. If you have any names you would like us to include in our dedications, please feel free to enter them in the Comment box when you make your donation. If you prefer to write a check, you can make it out to The White Aisle Foundation. I also invite you to drop by our event at Buchner Hall, Goucher College beginning at noon on May 1st. There will be a yoga garage sale, mini-classes and workshops, sunscreen samples, sun safety tips, and refreshments available throughout the day, as well as a kirtan (devotional singing and chanting) from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Thank you!
