Spinal Muscular Atrophy SMA affects approximately 1 in 10,000 babies, and about 1 in every 50 Americans is a genetic carrier. There are four primary types of SMA I, II, III, IV. Individuals with SMA have difficulty performing the basic functions of life. Though there is currently no approved treatment for SMA, there’s great reason for hope. My sister's niece, Kadence, has the disease so I want to raise awareness and show support. She is the sweetest and most inspiring little girl I know. Since I wanted to run in The Woodlands Half I chose to try to support the cause at the same time! Any little amount helps find a cure!
