BENEFITING: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
ORGANIZER: Cystic Fibrosis
EVENT: 2018 Pittsburgh Marathon
EVENT DATE: May 06, 2018
Jim discovered he had Cystic Fibrosis when he was 29 years old and has been fighting the disease ever since. This fight consists of two hours/day of breathing treatments, ups and downs with colds, IV antibiotic treatments, maintaining a port for easy IV antibiotic access, regular CT scans and symptom monitoring, and generally trying to do all that he can to stay healthy with damaged lungs.
He can't obtain life insurance, often struggles with fatigue, and knows that because this is a degenerative disease, one day the reports from his doctors likely won't be as positive as what he has been hearing recently.
However, he is a fighter! He exercises regularly (as often as his energy level will allow) and does everything else his doctors ask of him. Honestly, he usually goes above and beyond what they ask :) And, we are so thankful to the Lord for every moment that he has with us and every minute he feels healthy. We are especially grateful for the stability he has seen over the past few years!
Not everyone with this disease is as fortunate as Jim with currently stable health, though. We know this, and so for Jim and all of those who are struggling, please consider contributing to join with us in supporting Jim and everyone fighting this tough disease to find a cure as quickly as possible. Over 70,000 people worldwide are fighting Cystic Fibrosis!
New and exciting treatments are right around the corner - really! We are very excited about at least a couple that are working their way through the trial/approval process. So, these donations will be more pivotal than I think we can even understand.
THANK YOU for your generosity in joining with us during this time! Love to you, our wonderful community of friends and family. We honestly don't know where we would be without you!
